NDIS Transport Providers
Our goal is to help participants learn about transportation and reach their goal of traveling independently. Taking part in outside activities builds confidence in our participants. Many disabled people feel intimidated by travel and alone in their homes. NDIS transport services give them the freedom to learn new ways of traveling through a safe and comfortable relationship with their support worker.
Depending on their level of need, some participants need constant NDIS travel assistance. Others may require a hybrid level of transport disability assistance. Each participant’s needs are different, but we are here to assist you in any situation. If you need supervision and a little guidance when traveling, KoalaKare is there every step of the way.
How is NDIS Travel Funding Determined?
NDIS transport services funding depends on the needs and goals of the participant. Any individual may have travel support if it is challenging to use public transportation because of their disability.
There are three levels for transport support services. Level one is for participants who do not attend school or work. This is beneficial for participants wanting to be involved in community events such as sporting events. Level two is fitting for participants with a part-time job or attending school part-time. 15 hours or less a week is considered part-time. The funding includes going to work and school along with going to community events. Level three is ideal for participants working or going to school more than 15 hours a week.
Because each participant has different needs, some participants may be granted higher funding than level three. This is reviewed on a case-by-case basis to find the best solution for the individual. If the participant is under the age of 18, there may be costs not covered under NDIS transport services. Costs not funded by NDIS travel funding include:
Expenses regarding the vehicle, insurance, fuel, maintenance, and repair
Modifications and support unrelated to your disability
We Work with Participants to Arrange the Transport Support They Need
When determining the necessary disability assistance for travel, we work with your family and support coordinator. During this time, we set the transportation goals you want to achieve such as traveling to work yourself. Our support workers are here to help you achieve your goals and travel independently. We work closely with support coordinators to ensure we understand the level of NDIS transport support the participant needs. If you applied for NDIS transport support as an individual, we work with you and your coordination team to create a plan.
Integrating Life Skills
When planning to travel, something may happen where plans for transportation suddenly change. We help participants find effective transportation solutions and solve issues when they rise. This allows the participant to feel confident when they are by themselves and create an alternate transportation plan. Our goal is for participants to feel safe and confident when they are traveling alone, especially if there is an issue with their main transportation method.
Our NDIS transport providers ensure safe transportation when we take them to appointments or gatherings in the community. We arrive on time to pick up the participant and make sure they stay on schedule. Whether it is assisting with public transportation or using our transfer services, we provide safe, reliable travel services for our participants.
