Social and Community Participation
Community and social participation allow individuals to lead fulfilling lives and build relationships with other people. KoalaKare offers support services to help our participants go to community events as part of their NDIS plan. Events such as seminars, volunteer gatherings, or going to a movie are considered community participation. Our NDIS support workers help assist participants, so they can be active members of their community.
What is Community Participation?
Daily activities like NDIS community participation falls under the Core Support category within your plan. Core Support helps the participants with any daily activity. Social and community participation includes a variety of activities such as art classes, sporting events, or visiting a museum. These events can be individual or group activities.
Being an active member of your community, especially with group activities, helps build confidence and independence. When participants take part in group events, they learn about the importance of being on time, teamwork, and helping others. Community events help them increase their physical and mental health. Our support workers assist participants in community events to help them build skills and reach their goal of having an independent life.

How is Community
Participation Beneficial?
No matter the age of the participant, it is important to be engaged in the community. We believe it is vital for participants to feel a sense of belonging and confidence. Many feel a sense of belonging when they are accepted by their peers, friends, and community. Taking part in community events helps participants experience a variety of social settings. Not only does socializing give them experience with the community, but it also reduces anxiety and depression.
Community participation teaches participants important life skills when attending an event. Participants understand the value of being a team player and showing up on time to the event. These skills transfer over to important life events like getting a job or going to school. This helps teach participants about aspects required of them when working or attending school.
